As the singer for Strata, Eric Victorino launched his writing career with the publication of Coma Therapy, a collection of poetry and short stories which met with great acclaim from reviewers across the nation. Now, after leaving Strata, Victorino has started a new band, The Limousines, a self-proclaimed “electricalyricaldancefolk-core” band. It’s all just begun for the talented author as he awaits the release of his new book, Trading Shadows for Sunshine: A Loosely Chronicled Descent into the World of Exercise Bikes and Antidepressants.
I spoke to Victorino about The Limousines, Coma Therapy, and Trading Shadows for Sunshine.
REV: You're pretty much a renaissance man. Tell us, what do you do for a living?
EV: i work for the man, just like everyone else. i design and edit media and advertisements for a big, evil corporation.
REV:How did The Limousines start?
EV: i had some song ideas that the rest of my previous band were not so keen on, so i started making music with another friend.

EV: oh thanks for saying that - Coma Therapy was an experiment in withdrawing from my life by writing about it in painful detail. it was how i dealt with a really difficult period.

EV: i think years and year from now, if anyone cares about my art, they will probably see the last strata album and coma therapy as the last of my really personal writing. writing intimately about myself turned out to be kind of painful and i can see a lot more imagination and using fictional ideas in the future.
REV: Why did you leave Strata?
EV: i wanted my life back.
